Alot of work is being done at Morris Frank Disc Golf park. The final layout of the holes is taking shape and a course map will be coming in February. Concrete tee-pads will be poured in the very near future and after that baskets will follow. Final paths and fairways are being cut out of the forest and grass seed will be laid in January.
The Morris Frank Disc Golf Course is currently under construction and Leadership Lufkin and Lufkin Launchers are delivering sponsorship packets to local businesses in order to raise financial support to get complete this project. If you are a business or know of one that would like to be involved with this project, you can download the packet below.
These sponsorship donations are tax deductible and you will be recognized on course signage as a supporter or hole sponsor.
Jason Soule took home the $250 Ace Pot today when he hit a hole-in-one on the #2 basket at Kiwanis Park. He donated $50 back to the Ace Pot in addition to the league's $50, so next week it will be set to $100.
The Lufkin Launchers will be hosting a work day to cut and clear brush at the new disc golf course located at Morris Frank Park in Lufkin. We will be meeting on Nov 16 at 9:00 am. Bring work gloves, hedge clippers, chainsaws, etc...
Leadership Lufkin is on board and the ball is officially rolling! With the cooperation of the Lufkin Parks and Rec and the Lufkin Street Department, alleys are being cut as we speak for the new 18 hole Tournament Disc Golf Course in Lufkin. The course is scheduled to open mid-April with an inaugural tournament featuring the top players from East Texas.
With the help of Leadership Lufkin, this course will be a point of pride for the community and a Disc Golf destination for the area players. Enjoy the slide show and stay tuned for more to come.
The new layout for Kiwanis Disc Golf Course is finished. During the first official round Thursday evening Jason Soule threw the first hole in one on the new course. It happened on the first ever throw on the new number three hole. To make it better he wass using a brand new Innova Atlas that he was throwing for the first time. Congratulations!!
Caleb Stacy also set the new front nine (red course) record shooting a 24 (-3).
Kiwanis Park Disc Golf Course will be undergoing a change this week. The places for the new basket locations have been staked by the Parks and Rec and they will be working to move the baskets to their new locations as soon as possible. In additon to that, within the next two months a local Boy Scout Troop will be building the new tee boxes.
This course is designed to be a juinor and beginner friendly course and will be a challenging 18 hole pitch and putt course for advanced players. Because the new design throws away from the most populated areas of the park, it makes the course safer for park patrons and more enjoyable for disc golfers. Strategic Out of Bounds areas add a technical element to advanced players.
The new park map has been added below as a graphic as well as a PDF that you can print out for your own conveinence.
